About Us
Nana and Nina are twin sisters, born and raised in Yabucoa, Puerto Rico. Although they have decided to use the pseudonym Nana & Nina in their literary works for simplicity, their real names are Joanne López Ponzio and Caroll López Beltrán. Joanne (Nana) has a Bachelor’s Degree in Mechanical Engineering from the University of Puerto Rico in Mayagüez, while Caroll (Nina) has a Bachelor's Degree in International Trade, from the University of Puerto Rico, in Humacao, and a master's degree in Maritime Logistics from Maine Maritime Academy. Both have been working in their professional fields for several years, Nana in Philadelphia, and Nina between Miami and Puerto Rico. They decided to take some time away from work to raise their children, and this is where the idea of creating a world of bilingual stories was born.
In 2022, their first book, "Haciendo Olas- Making Waves" won best translation from Spanish to English at the International Latino Book Awards in Los Angeles, California and won the award for best bilingual book with their publishing house Babidi-Bú in Barcelona, Spain. That same year, they published a second bilingual book, widely welcomed by diaspora families, titled "Mi familia es de Puerto Rico - My family is from Puerto Rico" with the Puerto Rican publisher, Editorial Raíces. This book was awarded in 2023 at the Intertaional Latino Book Awards with the second-place award for the best translation from Spanish to English. Also, that same year they successfully self-published their third book titled: Maximiliano, siempre seras lo maximo-Maximiliano, you will always be the greatest.
